I've posted some images of this on the 'Gallery' page. While I was a student at St.Martins School of Art in 1968,the City of London Authority tendered requests for propositions for a mural in a children's play pit at this site.I applied for this after a visit to se the site,as I found it very interesting architecturally and spatially and I was given an interview. Before this,I built a scale model of the play pit, interviewed residents who would overlook it and showed them prospective designs to gain some insight into their likely reactions.
After successfully obtaining the commission,I executed the preparation and painting of the mural, with some help from fellow students.
After leaving St.Martins,I lived in London for several years and on occasions, would visit Golden Lane to show the work to various people.Eventually,I left and only saw the mural infrequently, until not at all.....
I was therefore astonished to learn only recently that not only has it survived but the City of London are planning to restore it,with the help of The Twentieth Century Society.Eealier this month (June2016),I went for an interview with Tess Pinto, Planning Officer with 20 Century. This will be published in Autumn, 2016,in their magazine,'C20', outlining these & further details of the restoration. I will out details accordingly.
This vehicle, for the construction firm,Exciting Spaces, has created a lot of interest in & around Shrewsbury,Shropshire,U.K. Maybe something similar could do the same for yours? Contact me for further details.
